A grade 4 math course built around your child

Grade 4 is where math stops being counting and starts being a system: multi-digit multiplication and division, fractions as numbers, decimals, and the first real word problems. It is also where many kids decide whether they like math.

Mathbloom writes a grade 4 course for one child. Their name and interests become the examples, so fractions might be pizza slices for one kid and game-level progress for another, while the standards underneath stay the same.

What a grade 4 course covers

  • Multi-digit multiplication and division, with the reasoning behind the methods, not only the steps.
  • Fractions: equivalence, comparing, adding and subtracting with like denominators, and multiplying a fraction by a whole number.
  • Decimals tied to fractions, place value to the millions, and rounding.
  • Measurement, angles, and area and perimeter, with word problems throughout.

How a lesson works

  • Teach first: each idea is split into small pieces and shown in something your kid already knows.
  • Practice: fresh problems each time, until they get three in a row.
  • Review: skills come back later on a widening schedule so they stick.
  • Worksheets: every lesson has a printable worksheet if you want paper.

Is grade 4 the right level?

An optional placement quiz before lesson 1 skips what your child already knows and adds a short Foundations lesson for any gap from an earlier grade. Courses assume a kid who reads on their own; grade 3 and below is not something Mathbloom covers.
